What Got My Attention This Week in Travel...
The number of hours on a connection matters less than what happens if you miss the flight. Four hours before a once-daily departure can be riskier than two hours on a route with plenty of backup flights. That said, I usually give myself three hours unless I know the airport and exactly what I'm getting into.
And well... this is trying to solve exactly that. If it actually works, you won't need to know the airport. You'll know what you're getting into before the wheels even touch the ground.
Tourist taxes used to be the odd surprise at hotel check-in. Now they're just becoming part of the cost of travel. The destinations feeling the most pressure have decided visitors can help pay for it.
It's easy to think the best underwater experiences are reserved for scuba divers. They're not. Some of the most incredible marine life is only a few metres from shore if you know where to look.
I'm terrible at this. I'm either sitting at home or halfway across the world. Maybe there's something to be said for finding a bit more adventure in the space between those two extremes.
