What inspired me most this week
Summer travel is becoming less about escaping to the beach and more about choosing the kind of summer you want. That might mean midnight sun in Scandinavia, a safari in Kenya, or festivals in Montréal instead of another crowded coastline.
Popularity and satisfaction aren't the same thing. The places people remember most are often the ones that quietly exceed expectations rather than the ones everyone says you have to visit. I probably talk about Zimbabwe more than Portugal, even though I thoroughly enjoyed both. One simply surprised me more.
I’m a fan of the sleeper train. Sometimes the fastest flight option isn't the quickest journey. Bookmarked this one for future Europe planning.
Destination Tip
If Croatia, Greece, or Italy feel a little too much, take a look at Montenegro. Its coastline is packed with beaches, while medieval towns and rugged mountains are never far away. It was recently ranked Europe's best beach destination thanks to its combination of scenery, affordability, and convenience.
