Travel is mostly logistics pretending to be freedom
Instagram is great for ideas. YouTube shows you what it's actually like. Blogs give you the details. Locals tell you what's changed. Every travel source has blind spots, so don't rely on just one. Compare a few before deciding, and you'll usually end up with a much better travel experience.
I've actually been pretty lucky when it comes to flight cancellations. But I've travelled enough to know that luck eventually runs out. You can't control whether your flight gets cancelled. You can control how prepared you are when it does.
I'm usually a DIY traveller. I like figuring things out for myself. But I've also learnt that sometimes you're not paying for the tour. You're paying for someone else to deal with the logistics so you can actually enjoy the day.

The default round-trip search isn't always your best option.
Compare a traditional return ticket with two one-way flights or a multi-city itinerary. Mixing flights can create better options, especially when one airline has the better outbound flight and another has the better return.
