What inspired me
These are amazing things to see, but you not only need planning but also a bit of luck. We were at the airport heading to Uyuni when the weather changed and our flight was cancelled. That's the problem with traveling just to see one phenomenon; when it doesn't happen or doesn't live up to the hype, it can leave your whole trip a disappointment if you don't have other reasons for being there.
If you rule out the snakes, tarantulas and survival training, this is a pretty cool list and a reminder of how vast the Amazon rainforest is. It seems like choosing the right lodge is key to getting many of these experiences, especially if you want to have a few in one trip.
Apparently, I need to take another look at my itinerary for an upcoming South America trip. Iguazú was the only waterfall on my list until I read this. It's like every time I research somewhere I find more places to see.
Somewhere new
I like that Frommer's hasn't just put together beautiful places, but there's actual reasons why 2027 is a good time for these destinations. There's also a lot of variety here in types of places, the experiences they offer and even the budget needed.
