Solo Travel Tips

No two solo travelers do things exactly the same way. But whether you're planning your first adventure or your fiftieth, there's always something to learn from the experiences, tips, and mistakes of others.

Don’t Leave Connection to Chance

If you want to meet people, don’t wait for fate to drop someone interesting next to you. Pick a social place to stay, join a group activity, become a regular at a café, or just start talking to someone. It works better than hoping for a movie moment.

Think About Safety Before You Need To

Research where you’re staying, share your plans with someone you trust, and arrive during daylight when possible. Preparation handles the predictable problems, while trusting your gut covers the things you didn’t see coming.

Plan Enough, Then Leave Yourself Some Room

A rough plan keeps you from wasting time on indecision, but packing your days too tightly just gives you another to-do list. Decide what matters most, leave room for downtime and surprises, and don’t forget you can always change your mind whenever you like.

Make the Trip Fit You

Solo travel is better when you build it around what you like, not what looks good on paper. Plan for your interests and energy, even if that means skipping the hostel, the nightlife, or the so-called must-see attraction.
